Our Team

Rush Outdoors and the World of Rush Outdoors are not made up of a group of individuals . . . We are a team of dedicated professionals committed to each other, our craft, and furthering the message of the Great Outdoors in New York State. We come from different walks of life with different backgrounds but with the same passion and respect for the animals we chase and those whom we share the woods and water.

Tim Andrus (Host)

Growing up watching what few hunting/fishing shows were available at that time Tim always had that wish to be that hunter or fisherman. In 1996 his dream started to come true with making the position of a national Pro Staffer for Realtree Outdoors. There he began traveling to various outdoor expos and store events for various Outdoor stores across the nation. A few years later he had his 1st chance to be filmed hunting for Realtree taking a few whitetail bucks to make the prestigious Monster Buck DVD series. And then the dream just got better and better . Next he began doing speaking engagement's for national sporting expos and Outdoor shows all over this great nation. The final dream stopper was when Tim was asked to host Rush Outdoors, which was followed up by hosting The World of Rush Outdoors and he hasn't looked back. For all of you who dream this shows you dreams come true!

Keith Bartholomew

Picture
Keith grew up in a small town in the finger lakes region of NY. He was introduced to the Great outdoors at a very young age as his Father was an avid outdoorsman. His parents took the family on yearly summer fishing trips to Canada and he knew the outdoors was for him. He enjoyed spending as much time in the woods learning about all the animals. After 25 yrs. of hunting, trapping and fishing Keith took up videography and took his camera and filmed every adventure to share with friends and family. Now 10 yrs. later he is solo cam filming for Rush Outdoors TV. He is a 35 yr. veteran bow hunter and outdoorsman who resides in Tompkins County with his very understanding and supportive wife Jill.

John Lawrence

John was born and raised in Batavia, NY. At an early age he began his outdoor lifestyle fishing on various local lakes and taking annual trips with his father and grandfather to Black Lake. By the age of 9 his father introduced him to trap shooting and by 10 years old he was shooting trap competitively across the northeastern parts of the country. He garnished many championships and earned All-American honors twice. John began hunting turkeys, rabbits, ducks and squirrels at the age of 12 and his passion grew into various big game hunting across numerous states and parts of Canada. His dreams came to light a few years ago when he was able to buy a piece of property where he now resides with his wife, two children and his vizsla. He has now found new passions in the outdoors filming his adventures, food plotting and teaching his children about the great outdoors.

Joe Pio

I grew up duck hunting, as we didn't have deer around during my early years of hunting. When the whitetail deer numbers climbed, I changed gears and caught the bug. Deer hunting consumes me. I chase deer in south jersey and venture out for an out of state hunt, here and there. About a twenty years ago the filming bug hit. I wasn't good at it, nor did I have the right equipment. Ten years ago I really ventured into filming. I upgraded my equipment and my approach to filming. Now, I am a moving production studio. I adjust my work schedule and normally put in about 80-90 hunts a year. After deer season I change it up to predator calling and trapping. It keeps me in the outdoors and keeps the tradition of trapping alive.

Norm Wightman (executive  Producer)

Picture
Norm Wightman cut his teeth chasing critters in Central New York. While he made a name for himself in the whitetail woods it was his prowess chasing predators that set Norm apart. Norm has worked in the outdoor industry for 20+ years with such names as Ithaca Gun, Outdoor retailers and more. Norm created Wight Ox Enterprises, Rush Outdoors, the World of Rush Outdoors and The Great New York Sportsman’s Expo. Norm resides in Cayuga County with his wife and two children.

Brandon Thomas

Picture
Brandon grew up chasing whitetails in the big woods located on the foothills of the Tug Hill plateau and fishing the area lakes and streams.  Brandon currently resides in Cayuga County with his wife and 3 kids on their farm.  He enjoys taking his kids hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his family.  “Bowhunting whitetail deer is one the greatest challenges I’ve ever faced.  A challenge that I try to overcome all year long.  Constantly practicing, developing new hunting techniques and improving old ones, along with monitoring the deer movement with trail cameras all aid in my attempt to successfully harvest whitetails.”

Brian Kirby (Field Producer/ Editor)

Picture
Brian's love for the outdoors started at an early age hunting small game in Western NY. On his first day of deer season he shot his first doe with a handed down 20 gauge. In 2013 Brian picked up a bow and harvested a doe that year with his PSE.
Since then Brian has enjoyed countless turkey hunts and continues to push himself as a whitetail hunter. He also enjoys sharing the outdoors with his kids Savannah and Maverick when ever possible and looks forward to teaching them all he knows about the outdoors.
Brian also has a strong passion for firearms training and enjoys doing tactical drills with carbine's and pistol's on a regular basis.

Gordon Wood

Picture
Growing up on the bootstraps of an avid and successful bowhunting instructor you have no choice but to fill those same boots. After all it's in your blood, It's your lifestyle. Gordon spent many days in the woods with his mom and dad learning the art, the value, and the love for hunting. To this day his mom AKA Mama Bear instills the same passion into all of the Wood family cubs. As a child Gordon grew up watching hunting shows that inspired him. He often boasted "I will be on TV someday." That young boy's passion, led Gordon to be the successful hunter and outdoorsman he is today. This same passion he has instilled into his wife and children has led him to 2 northeast big buck club awards and several successful bear hunts. Sharing the woods with his family and friends only furthers his love for the sport even more today. Gordon now shares his family's hunting and fishing adventures through the lens of a camera.
